Understanding your service details (IP, port, SFTP, panel URL) Print

  • 0

This article explains where to find the key connection details for your PlayNHost service: server IP, port, Game Panel link and SFTP login, and what each of them is used for.

1. Log in to the Client Area

  1. Go to https://playnhost.com/billing.
  2. Enter your Email Address and Password, then click Login.

2. Open your service details

  1. From the Client Area home, go to your list of services (for example, ServicesMy Services).
  2. Find the server you want to check (for example, your Minecraft or Rust server).
  3. Click the service name or the Manage / View Details button to open the Product Details page.

On this page you will normally see a section with your main connection details, such as IP, port and Game Panel link.

3. Server IP and port

Where to find them

  • Server IP / Hostname – usually shown as something like 123.45.67.89 or yourserver.playnhost.com.
  • Port – a number such as 25565 for Minecraft or another port for other games.

What they are used for

  • IP / Hostname: This is the address players use to reach your server over the internet.
  • Port: This tells the game which service on that machine to connect to. Some games use the default port (for example, Minecraft Java uses 25565 by default), others may use a custom port.

How players use them

  • In the game client, players add a server using either:
    • IP:Port – for example 123.45.67.89:25565, or
    • Just the hostname if the default port is used and DNS is configured (for example, play.example.com).
  • If players cannot join, double-check that they are using the correct IP and port exactly as shown in your service details or Game Panel.

4. Game Panel link

Where to find it

  • On the Product Details page in the Client Area, you will usually see a button or link to the control panel, such as:
    • Game Panel
    • Open Control Panel
    • or Login to Panel
  • The panel runs at https://panel.playnhost.com. When you click the button from the Client Area, it will open this URL in a new tab, often using single sign-on.

What it is used for

  • Starting, stopping and restarting your server.
  • Viewing the live console and logs.
  • Changing the server version or modpack.
  • Managing backups and scheduled tasks.
  • Accessing the file manager or SFTP details.

5. SFTP / FTP login details

Where to find them

  • In most cases, SFTP details are shown inside the Game Panel:
    • Log in at https://panel.playnhost.com.
    • Select your server.
    • Look for a section such as SFTP Details, Remote Management, or File Access.
  • If SFTP details are not visible in the Client Area or panel, check your original welcome email or contact support.

What they are used for

  • SFTP Host: The address you connect to from your SFTP client (for example, the same IP as your server or a hostname).
  • Port: Often 22 for SFTP, unless otherwise specified.
  • Username & password: The credentials you use to log in from an SFTP program such as FileZilla or WinSCP.

Use SFTP if you want to upload or download files in bulk (worlds, mods, plugins, configs) instead of using the web-based file manager.

6. Summary of each detail

  • Server IP / Hostname: Address that players use to join your server.
  • Port: Tells the game which service to connect to on that address.
  • Game Panel link: Opens the management interface at panel.playnhost.com where you control the server.
  • SFTP login: Used with an SFTP client to upload/download files directly to your server’s filesystem.

If you cannot find one of these details on your Product Details page or inside the Game Panel, please open a ticket from the Support → Submit a Ticket section and include the name of the affected service.
